Alvaro Palacios, Finca Dofi 2016
By Pete's Provisions
WHY WE LOVE THIS WINE
Vibrant acidity and more freshness than the 2015. It's a wine that really stands out among the 2016s—explosive and long, with concentration and elegance. This could very well become the finest Dofí to date.
ABOUT THE WINERY
Since establishing his Priorat-based winery in 1989 after a stint working at Château Pétrus, Alvaro Palacios has quickly come to be recognised as one of Spain’s greatest winemakers and with a focus on local varieties from exceptionally old, low-yielding vines, he is consistently crafting some of the country’s finest wines. Finca Dofi is mostly Grenache with a small amount of Cariñena from a plot in the village of Gratallops planted between 1900 and 1940 on a precipitous hillside with typical ‘llicorella’ slate soils.
