WHY WE LOVE THIS WINE
On the nose it is fresh. It reveals notes of small berries, fresh lily / iris and more slightly varietal associated with small touches of blackberry, gray pepper and a fine hint of tobacco. On the palate it is fruity, balanced, a little tight and offers minerality, freshness, a very fine creaminess as well as good definition, concentration and some tension. This wine expresses notes of pulpy blackberry, creamy blackcurrant and slightly lilac, iris associated with touches of chocolate / mocha as well as fine hints of toast. Good length. The tannins are well developed.
ABOUT THE WINERY
The vineyards of Château Larruau are very well located and sit right next to Château Margaux. The wines fly under the radar but offer brilliant value, with concentration, density and finesse. Robert Parker has called out Château Larruau as the best value in Margaux.
