WHY WE LOVE THIS WINE
This rich and funky Albarino brings intense salinity and layers of ripe tropical fruit on the palate. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation using natural yeasts, and the resulting wine has a bit of a nutty, oxidative character to it. Albarino is a people pleaser wine and when it’s good like this it’s really good!
ABOUT THE WINERY
Casa Monte Pio was founded in 1979 by Jose María Martinez; now his grandson Pablo Martinez Gago carries the family tradition as the owner and winemaker. Pablo’s passion lies in the vineyard and he has dedicated himself to organic viticulture and craft wine production. His vineyards are located within walking distance to their family home, in the heart of the Val do Salnés near the Rio Umia.
